MARTIN GENDELL'S PORTFOLIO

My name is Martin Gendell, and I am currently a high school senior attending Avenues NY.
Projects & Teams

I engineered the 1st 3D Printed Fusor. Built Ultra High Vacuum system, 3D-printed vacuum chamber & hardware safety protocols. Shared demos with ~3K people at local outreach events, and received entirety of funding from Bloomberg and 1517 fund.

I am making a 100watt class Hall Effect Ion Thruster that uses ceramic 3D printing in order to simplify the design and reduce costs. The long term goal is to use the complex geometries allowed by 3d printing to achieve solid state thrust vectoring, and install it on a 3U cubesat.

For the past 4 years I have been a member of my schools FTC Robotics club. As current Engineering Lead, I direct team strategy, CAD, fabrication & subsystem builds. I manage 7 engineers & coordinate testing cycles, reliability checks & hardware upgrades. #1 of 200 teams in NYC for past 2 years.

The product of my relentless desire to have a go-kart for less than $100, I made this fully functional "Budget" Go-kart from a discarded snowboard, an old pedal kart, my sister's childhood bike, some scrap metal, and car batteries.

My team and I have been working with John Lomberg (The creator of the original GR) & Dr. Black (Manager of Microsoft's Project Silica) to create an updated version of the Golden Record to send into space. I am

Ever since I was little, I have always had an idea in my mind and a project in my hands. From toys made of scrap wood and Lego projects to a fully functional wooden pendulum clock and boat, my curiosity and need to build has always led me to interesting places.
